Hi All
Hope everyone is looking forward to a fantastic All Star Day this Sunday.
We have 472 (up from 369 last year) athletes registered with 269 athletes coming from 41 different Centres from across the state. A fantastic result for the Centre.
In order to make the day run a bit smoother please find below some additional information, please share this with your families.
General Info
Please aim to arrive 30 - 45 minutes before your scheduled event.
All athletes are required to sign in upon arrival
Walks will commence at 8.00am and some field events are starting at 8.30am. Please make sure you are aware of the event times on the attached program. This is due to the large number of athletes competing.
Only athletes listed on the event sheet can compete in that event as per nomination process.
Sprints that have two or more heats are timed finals. Winners will not be notified until all heats are conducted. A winner of one heat may not end up being the actual overall winner. This is important for families to know so they can manage athlete expectations.
Each club will have additional volunteering responsibilities - please ensure all your spots are filled. We will also be sending the volunteer roster to all families to help fill all the spots – it is important though that we have a COBURG parent as the Chief.
Here is the volunteer roster:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4AAAAE29A0FFC61-62517065-allstar Volunteers should be at their events at the allocated start time – do not wait for the athletes to be called. Be ready to go when they show up.
As per usual, athletes will marshal at events
Multi Class (MC) Athletes - we have a few MC athletes competing on the day. They compete at the same time as all athletes but are awarded medals as if it were a separate event.
Canteen will be open and Coffee van will be onsite for the day
Chiefing Events
Events are to be conducted as if under Competition conditions this includes:
No coaching
Follow all rules for the event - Chief and call fouls accordingly
Need additional support or hints on volunteering at events, visit:
https://lavic.com.au/education/officials/centre-officiating-resources/Allow each athlete one warm up throw/ jump
One throw/ jump at a time - unless they have a clash - you can offer them the opportunity to complete all their throws/ jumps at one time before they move to the next event.
All officials to wear High-Vis vest.
No other parents at events – Chiefs need to manage this.
Once event is completed, fill out the medal results slip and pass to the winning athletes who should proceed immediately to the medal presentation area to be awarded their medals.
If an athlete is not present at the event please radio the Athlete Check In to confirm if they have shown up. If they are onsite please do everything you can to ensure the athlete competes - they may have a clash with another event and you may need to delay your event until they finish another. Athletes are usually aware of their clashes. Please note: Track usually takes precedence over field events
Walkie-talkies will be provided to each event. Please return these to the announces tent at the end of the day.
Event Clashes
We are aware some athletes may have clashes between events. Please make sure you are personally aware of any clashes. Athletes may need to complete all their throws/ jumps in a row and then move to the next event. Track will take precedence over field and athletes may need to go to a track event then back to the field.
Bill Taylor 100m Handicap
Each winner (Boys and Girls) of the 100m U6-U15 age groups will be invited to compete in the Bill Taylor Memorial 100m handicap at approximately 12.45pm. Please listen for announcements if your child wins one of these events.
We will keep you updated of any other changes.
Thanks everyone for your support.
