Our annual β€˜Come try day’ is fast approaching. (Saturday 13th Sept). Our wonderful CLAC Committee has been busy planning and organizing and is seeking any assistance you can provide on the day. Many of you started your athletics journey on this day and bring a wealth of experience to pass on. The sign up genius is below and any help no matter how long is much appreciated.

Overview of the day.

Families arrive and are greeted at the gate by CLAC representative. Participating athletes MUST be registered with LAVIC.
Families are directed to marque on the infield for their allotted start time
Sessions are run at the following times and go for about 1 hour
9.00am, 9.45am, 10.30am, 11.15am
Up to 40 children will be in each group and they will be allocated into 4 groups of 10.
A general welcome and introduction to CLAC is provided covering key points:
History of CLAC
Overview of the club structure
Events conducted on a normal Saturday
Opportunity to participate at Regional Competition, Relays and State Championships
Overview of the day
Participants are allocated into four groups with one marshal per group (this is a great job for older athletes)
All participants proceed to the 70m to start their session with a run down the straight.
Each group will then go to one of the following events for a 15-minute session:
Discus
Shot put
Long Jump
When the individual session is over they rotate to the next event.
Anti clockwise – LJ β†’ DISCUS β†’ SP β†’ LJ
Once families have completed the four activities they are encouraged to head into the club rooms to chat to the individual clubs, sign up and ask any other questions they might have.

Responsibilities of Marshals
Lead group to and from each event
Chat to families and answer any questions they may have
Keep each activity to the 15-minute allotted time
Support officials at events and manage safety

Responsibilities of officials at events
Provide a general overview of the event and cover any safety issues (especially with throws – please make sure no one is in front of the thrower)
Demonstrate how an athlete should complete the activity (good for older athletes to be involved here)
Support the children to complete a number of throws/ jumps at each activity.
Need one chief at event location

Set up from 7.45am
Front Gate – Coburg marque, table and chairs
Infield – Marque, tear drop flag, five cones
70M Sprint/ finish line – set as per normal competition
Long jump, discus, shotput – set as per normal competition.
Two of each event will be set up – second discus will be set at Javelin marked out with bunting.
