We DESPERATELY need people with race walking judging skills for the upcoming season. Last season we were forced at times to not give points for walks events due to lack of walks judges and we were unable to provide walks as an event on All Star Day.
This workshop would be highly accessible and relevant to any family attending the upcoming state race walk championships.
Prior to the LAVic State Race-Walk Road Championships to be held in the afternoon of 14th June, the VRWC will conduct a clinic for current Little Athletics walks judges, as well as anyone involved in LAVic competition (parents, coaches, officials) who are interested in becoming a walks judge. The clinic will be held at the Middle Park Bowling Club.
The session will cover the essential elements of judging:
World Athletics Technical Rule 54.2.
Judging procedures before, during and after a race.
Materials used.
Documentation and how to complete it.
What a judge sees and looks for.
What a judge DOESN’T do.
The many roles of judges (inc. race judging, Chief judge, Chief judge assistant,
recorder, liaison with referee and/or meet director).
How a judge can be of assistance to a walker, after a race.
This session is suited to those who:
Need clarification on judging practices.
Are not yet judges and want to commence their own judging journey.
Seek advice on how better to facilitate walking at their centres.
come from centres with insufficient judges.
If you are interested in attending, please contact Stu Cooper at stuwalks@yahoo.com.au.
We look forward to seeing you at the Judging Clinic, at the races, or both!
